About Stacie Wentling McKee
Licensed therapist specializing in trauma, attachment, and the relational patterns that keep us stuck.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, licensed in Oregon and Washington. I founded Upriver Wellness in 2024 with a simple belief: that healing happens when we address the full picture — not just what's happening on the surface, but the experiences, relationships, and nervous system patterns that shaped it.
I work with individual adults navigating relationship trauma, attachment wounds, and the kind of deep relational injuries that don't always have a clear name. My clients are often high-functioning people who understand themselves well — and yet keep finding the same patterns showing up in their relationships, their bodies, and their inner lives.
My Approach
Therapy with me is collaborative, relational, and paced carefully around your nervous system's capacity. Some sessions may involve EMDR or parts work, while others focus on slowing down patterns as they arise in real time — building safety, processing relational wounds, or reconnecting with parts of yourself that learned to survive through protection, perfectionism, shutdown, or overfunctioning.
I work from an attachment and trauma-informed foundation, drawing on methods that address not just the mind but the body and nervous system. Talk alone often isn't enough — especially when what we're working with lives below the level of conscious thought. I also draw on Brainspotting, IFS, MBCT, Buddhist psychology, Motivational Interviewing, and Compassion Focused Therapy depending on what's most useful for each person.
I believe that each of us possesses an unbroken self — one that can support us as we heal wounds from the past and build a life that feels more like our own.
Why I do this work
I started Upriver Wellness because I wanted to offer something more than what a lot of mental health care makes room for — slower, deeper, relationship-centered work that honors the full complexity of who you are and what you've been through.
I'm drawn to work with people who are done managing symptoms and ready to understand what's actually driving them. That kind of work requires trust, time, and a therapeutic relationship that feels genuinely safe. Building that is where I put my energy.
