Upriver Wellness — Individual Therapy

What individual therapy with me looks like

Sessions are 50 minutes, held weekly. I work with adults navigating relationship patterns, trauma history, and the nervous system dysregulation that often underlies both.

My approach is collaborative and relational. You're the expert on your experience — I bring training, structure, and attunement. Sessions aren't one-size-fits-all; we work at your pace and adjust as needed.

There's also room for lightness here. Not every session is heavy — humor, curiosity, and moments of genuine relief are part of how safety gets built.

Early sessions focus on building safety, understanding your history, and developing the internal resources you'll need for deeper work. From there, we move into processing — using EMDR, parts work, or somatic approaches depending on what's most useful for you.

Not every session is about processing. There is also space for making sense of current patterns, working through specific challenges, and building toward what you actually want your life to feel like.

What to expect

How sessions tend to feel

Warm and collaborative — not clinical or detached
Paced around your nervous system, not a predetermined agenda
Honest and direct, with space for your own sense of things
Grounded — there is always room to slow down or shift gears
Sometimes lighter than you expect — humor has a place here
Focused on lasting change, not just managing symptoms week to week

How the process typically unfolds

1

Free 15-minute consultation

We talk briefly about what brings you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and whether working together makes sense. No commitment required.

2

Initial intake sessions

The first 2–3 sessions focus on getting to know your history, what you're working with, and what goals feel meaningful to you.

3

Building internal resources

Before diving into processing, we build stabilization skills — so you have tools to regulate your nervous system inside and outside of sessions.

4

Deeper processing work

Using EMDR, IFS, and somatic approaches, we address the experiences and patterns at the root — at a pace your nervous system can integrate.

The first step is a conversation. No commitment, no pressure.
